Bone's Restaurant Review:

Bone’s is approaching four decades as Atlanta’s veritable bastion of beef. The place fields a clubby atmosphere that appeals especially to expense account patrons. Caricatures of famous locals and others line the walls, along with archival photographs of Atlanta's well-known folk. The dining rooms and private rooms, both upstairs and down, are tastefully decorated with rich fabrics and dark woods. We prefer the much more private tables off to the left side to those in the center. Besides beef, lamb loin chops and the veal chop are justifiably storied. Bone’s also offers excellent fish dishes, and the scallops and crab cakes are legendary. However, one item seems to have slipped in quality: Bone's signature lobster bisque, once sensuously creamy, now is thin, salty and tasting as though it’s made from a base and not from lobster bodies. Adding fried onion rings to your order is a Bone’s tradition; they accompany the burger. At lunch, the steak sandwich gets you a taste of the meat flavor for under $20, but we prefer it without the cheese that normally smothers the meat, onions and mushrooms. Selected sides will make a fine vegetable plate for vegetarians. Made in house, desserts are a bit conventional; perhaps the best are the pecan pie and the chocolate torte with raspberry coulis. Bone's huge, book-length wine list comes on an iPad, and explores the planet’s wine regions, with topnotch options by the glass whose prices range from $11 to $150 per pour.
