Gran Electrica Restaurant Review:

Set in a brick townhouse from 1835 right at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge, this popular Mexican restaurant is helmed in the kitchen by Sam Richman, who logged time at the stoves of Jean Georges and Per Se. Despite the chef’s pedigree, the execution of the dishes is straightforward, as it should be with Mexican cuisine. Tacos pack a flavorful punch, particularly the lengua variety. Scallop ceviche wades in a tangy pool of cilantro and cucumber purée that will make you want to run your finger over the plate to get one last taste. Whole roasted porgy is very satisfying on the palate: the fish is tender and loaded with garlicky and citrus flavors. The dessert list is not extensive but the offerings are good, especially the simply prepared flan. There’s an affordable wine list but it’s best to target the margaritas, particularly the beet and chili-spiked kind.
