Momofuku Noodle Bar Columbus Circle, New York, NY

Momofuku Noodle Bar Columbus Circle Restaurant Review

About the restaurant & décor: In a surprising move, David Chang launched this noodle parlor in the mall setting of The Shops at Columbus Circle. Tucked into a side space on the third floor, with a rotisserie sandwich bar (Bang Bar) next door, Momofuku Noodle Bar takes few reservations. Always crowded, the 90-seat spot will add your phone number to the queue but advise you to stay nearby as tables turn quickly. Two long bars with seating flank closely positioned booths.

Likes: Everything on the menu.
Dislikes: Mostly walk-in policy can make pre-Jazz at Lincoln Center dining tricky.

Food & Drinks: Diners select their choice from a paper menu and check off any wishes. Noodles and ramen are a no-brainer, and you absolutely must order some version or you may not be allowed back. But don’t ignore the silky crudo or the pork belly buns if they’re offered, and small plates like roasted carrots are more exciting than they sound --- these are what differentiate the restaurant from its East Village location. Daily specials are listed on a train-like electric sign. Service is professional and knowledgeable. If your server suggests something, even the inventive ice cream, the wise thing to do is to acquiesce: your taste buds will thank you. Saké, soju, beer, cider, cocktails and global wines (with six choices by the glass) are available from a diverse roster.
