Greenwich Village is home to a branch of the gourmet burger chain named after the "fifth taste." All the Umami hits are here: the signature burger may look straightforward but is built with star anise-accented caramelized onions, house-made ketchup, a sea kelp powder, a bonito flake and oyster extract spray, a Parmesan crisp, shiitake mushroom and, finally, a topping of umami-glazed roasted tomato. The result is a very addictive burger. Other options include burgers with turkey, ahi tuna or falafel. All can be paired with fries (regular or sweet potato) or onion rings.
