At the beginning of the story, Wally’s was a very serious wine store in West Los Angeles. Founder/owner Steve Wallace sold it to a passionate team composed of brothers and wine connoisseurs Maurice and Paul Marciano (founders of Guess?) and sommelier Christian Navarro. The trio relocated to hip Cañon Drive in Beverly Hills. From an impressive and respected wine retailer, Wally’s has become a restaurant, gourmet shop and a bar with a scene.

The same principle has been applied here in Las Vegas: more than 8,000 labels of wines, a gourmet counter where you can buy cheeses, charcuterie, caviar, chocolates (and much more), and a California-French all-day dining menu.

While there are hand-crafted Cheese & Charcuterie Boards, I did not order any as I wanted to indulge in the cuisine of the chef. From lobster benedict for brunch, to salads (Paul’s Endive Salad, Truffle Caesar Salad), sandwiches (Wally’s Hero, Tuna Melt), and entrées, you will be fully satisfied — and your wallet will be lighter.

The French influence is to be found in the Wood Oven Baked Brie and the Steak Tartare; while California is represented with the Shrimp & Avocado and the Wally’s Burger. Culinary things get even more serious with the desserts. The chocolate lava cake, Caramel Chocolate, might be the best one I ever had. The Peach Pie, presented on a wood board, like many dishes, was beautiful and tastefully elegant.

Wine wise, the choices are beyond endless… That might well be where decision making will take you the most time. Cheers!

> Sophie‘s tip: Dine inside in the middle of the wine bottles (and not on the outside patio). It is not too often you can be surrounded by thousands and thousands of such beautiful wines.
