This gastropub-like establishment livens up Murray Hill with good cocktails and grub.
Whitman & Bloom Restaurant Review:
With the exception of the odd Indian restaurant, Murray Hill can be something of a culinary dead zone. There aren’t many reasons to gravitate to the neighborhood, unless you’re a local. But then again, it’s home to gastropub-like Whitman & Bloom, which offers inspired fare like tender braised veal cheeks set among potato gratin; nicely grilled calamari; and juicy grilled lamb ribs, a few of the standouts on the somewhat brief menu. A lengthy, affordable wine list sources labels from around the globe, and a handful of signature cocktails includes the Red Root: Brooklyn Gin married with beet juice and ginger beer. You may want to order a second.
