When the English fall for wine, they do it right. Even the best of wine cellars would have trouble living up to the quality (and reasonable prices) of Mark Williamson's wide-ranging wine list (over 200 selections), with its affectionate preference for Côtes-du-Rhônes. Join the customers sitting elbow-to-elbow at the polished white-oak bar, or if you can nab a table in the smallish dining room for a more upscale cuisine, try appetite whetters like pressed duck liver with artichokes, Scottish salmon roasted in salt, or duckling with wine ice cream, followed by unforgettable Stilton blue and their talked-about bitter chocolate terrine.
