Let’s Celebrate Le Kool & The Gang Champagne

By Sophie Gayot

Le Kool, The Celebration Champagne

There is no need to introduce Kool & The Gang, the longest non-stop touring band in the history of music. But, did you know that it is also the only group in the world with a song more popular than “Happy Birthday“? I am talking about “Celebration.”

Songwriter, remixer and DJ Mohamed Moretta is the business partner of Robert “Kool” Bell (Founder & Leader of Kool & The Gang). When Moretta married a French woman, Olfa, “the” ultimate celebration beverage of choice came to the keyboard. Le Kool Champagne was born.

The trio called to the task the champagne house Champagne Paul Berthelot, founded in 1884 in Dizy, a village next to Épernay, France. A fifth generation family maison de champagne, Champagne Paul Berthelot owns 15 hectares (around 30 acres) of Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. All the bottles are aged in their caves for a minimum of four years.

Le Kool Champagne, available in the U.S. and Europe, comes in three cuvées:
Grand Cru
80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay
Blanc de Blancs
100% Chardonnay
Rosé
30% Chardonnay, 65% Pinot Noir, 5% Red Wine from Champagne.

I got to discuss with Mohamed Moretta, and also sabered blindfolded a bottle of Grand Cru to try it. Too bad you can only drink so much… See my exclusive video interview below.

If you are thinking that Le Kool Champagne is just an idea to make Robert “Kool” Bell feel cool (like some other musicians with beverage brands), get down to it, do not get misled, cherish these bubbles. Have a good time tonight and don’t forget ladies’ night with some rosé.

> “An exquisite well-balanced champagne with plenty of finesse,” says GAYOT’s Wine & Spirits Editor Dirk Smits about Le Kool Champagne Grand Cru.
