This hillside restaurant on the Palos Verdes Peninsula has a spectacular ocean view and a menu of competently prepared seafood, steaks and Italian dishes. The upscale atmosphere attracts a mature crowd that appreciates fresh fish and old-school preparations, and the veteran team here keeps them happy. Regulars start with oysters Rockefeller, a Dungeness crab cocktail or steamed clams, before moving on to items like broiled seafood brochette, chicken piccata, linguine with clams or New York steak. Not much has changed since its debut in 1966, and that is a comforting quality for the locals. Order a bowl of soup and a pair of appetizers and you have an ample meal for two people --- which is good, because the prices definitely have changed. An expansive dessert list features seasonally fresh strawberry shortcake, peach and blackberry cobbler, and caramel-orange-pecan bread pudding. The Sunday brunch menu also focuses on classic items like halibut almandine and flank steak and eggs. The primarily Californian wine list offers mostly familiar labels, and prices are relatively tame.
