| Even the most avid sushi lover would have to admit that Studio City is seriously overbuilt with Japanese restaurants, with a concentration approaching that of Little Tokyo. In terms of quality, Ahi Sushi is just about in the middle of the pack---far from the superior caliber of neighboring Asanebo or Katsu-ya, but considerably better than many on this busy stretch of Ventura. Combining trendy flourishes with traditional art, the venue is relatively attractive, with black linen-draped tables or a granite-topped sushi bar to choose from. While it may not blow you away, the sushi is generally high quality and satisfying appetizers like blue crab-stuffed calamari, toro tuna tartare with caviar and baked black cod are artfully plated. Entrées include whole lobster tail tempura and grilled king salmon with yellow pepper sauce. |
