 Alexander's Steakhouse Restaurant Review: Take away the meat aging in the entryway and this destination restaurant's shoji screens, black and red lacquer and chopsticks might predict an Asian meal ahead. Alexander's merges luxury steakhouse fare with Asian sensibilities and delivers on both. A "tastes" menu presents four delicately balanced, seasonal courses before a hefty knife setting tells you steak is on the way. The restaurant offers Tajima, an Australian Wagyu cross-breed for $135, and Lone Mountain Cattle domestic Wagyu for $200. Traditional dry- and wet-aged steaks are also available, including the massive bone-in rib-eye (the bone is ten inches), as are lobster, fish and vegetable entrées. The wine list is substantial and varied in both by-the-bottle and by-the-glass selections. Some older Bordeaux even represent relative bargains compared to recent releases. Desserts are small portioned, with a preference for intense flavor over steakhouse sizing, and every meal ends with one of 12 flavors of house-made cotton candy. |
