THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Asian Deli Restaurant Review:
Until Fred De Groot emigrated from Jakarta, the concept of an Indonesian restaurant in the Inland Empire hamlet of Diamond Bar was hard to imagine. Given De Groot’s deft touch with his native cuisine, Asian Deli has changed that belief. Lamb, pork, chicken and beef satay are uniformly fine, grilled on bamboo skewers and served with peanut or chili sauces. The restaurant’s eponymous chicken dish is marinated and grilled, then topped with rich coconut sauce. Lamb comes in soup, in curry gravy and roasted with hot-sweet soy sauce. Other specialties include grilled shrimp wrapped in banana leaves and beef rendang. For dessert, interesting sweets utilize condensed milk and syrups and feature tropical fruits like durian and rambutan.
