THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Aventine Hollywood Restaurant Review

: Directly across the street from Velvet Margarita and kitchen24, Aventine Hollywood adds to the late-night fun factor in the Cahuenga Corridor. Modern chandeliers light the wooden floors and brick walls covered with photos and bric-a-brac, while Christmas-tree lit olive trees illuminate the funky patio which is separated from the main dining room by a working garage door. Brothers Gian-Paolo Veronese and chef Adolfo Veronese, who hail from San Francisco where they opened Taverna Aventine, offer a menu of Italian shareable plates, pastas and pizzas to a raucous, fun-loving crowd. The marble pizza bar with an Italian wood-burning oven makes pies until 2 a.m. on weekends. We especially enjoyed the crust on the tasty pizzas, which offer atypical toppings including roasted Brussels sprouts and black truffle honey. Other highlights are the ravioli, scottadito (grilled lamb chops with kumquat confit) and the warm, comforting dessert zoccolini (fried pizza dough). There are signature cocktails and a short wine list focused on Italy and the U.S., while beer drinkers will appreciate the Italian La Rossa as well as Chimay and Allagash White on tap.
