THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bistro Chat Noir Restaurant Review:

This dainty and relaxed French bistro, situated in a landmarked townhouse off Madison Avenue just a baguette's throw from Central Park, serves fresh and faithful French classics amid a décor reminiscent of the 1920s jazz era. Cheese-stuffed raviolis, slathered in pesto and topped with escargots, are a fine start to a meal. Winning entrées include pan-seared duck breast wading in a shallow pool of carrot, eggplant and parsnip purée. At brunch, we like the Nutella-and-raspberry-filled french toast. The wine list, skewing toward France, has some nice selections both by the glass and the bottle.
