The long lines outside this unassuming restaurant should give you an idea of just how satisfying the tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) is. Choice cuts of pork---you decide whether you want the juicy "roast katsu" or the leaner "hire-katsu"---are lightly breaded and then deep-fried and served with shredded cabbage and a special sauce. Every self-respecting tonkatsu restaurant has an original sauce, and Katsukura's version is one of the best. While waiting for your cutlets to arrive, you're given a bowl of sesame seeds to grind and mix with the sauce. The combination of a tender piece of pork with this flavorful accompaniment and a dab of spicy Japanese mustard is ideal.
