About the restaurant: With an elevated location at Point Happy, La Quinta Cliffhouse Grill & Bar offers a contemporary feel. The bar is still amber-lit and seats plenty. The semi-private curtained booths have been replaced by a lofty and inviting space. When the weather is nice, opt for a table out on the patio not far from the restaurant's waterfall.
Food & Drinks: The distinctive menu, under the direction of chef Jorge Martinez, includes fresh seafood such as oysters on the half shell along with steak tartare with hand-chopped filet mignon, capers and red onion served with toast points. Hand-rolled ricotta gnocchi features Bolognese sauce, while a marbled 16-ounce rib-eye with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans gets an added kick with a rich Cabernet Sauvignon sauce. A selection of soup, salads and appetizers is also available. The wine list, comprising mostly California labels with a few Italian offerings, is extensive. Save room for the velvety Tahitian vanilla crème brûlée. The lounge hosts happy hour all day, every day from May-October.
