About the restaurant: The martinis are perfect, the steaks are juicy, and the ambience is classic at this stronghold of red meat and old-fashioned American excess. We wouldn't have it any other way. Jammed during racing season (the Del Mar track is directly across the street) and busy at all other times, Red Tracton's is a draw with folks who don't bother to count calories or cholesterol.
Food: The menu is dominated by steaks, but there are several chicken and seafood selections as well. We say go for the full-bone cut prime rib with a giant stuffed baked potato, piled high with crumbled bacon, sour cream, cheese and butter, just like the good old days. Down-home favorites include meatloaf, roasted turkey, and spaghetti and meatballs. Ladies who lunch favor the salads with the secret recipe of green goddess dressing, available for purchase. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the live piano music in the lounge. Red Traction's is a delightful portal to days past.
