| Pronounced "Ashay," Axe is the Portuguese spelling of an African word meaning the energy of gods and goddesses. The restaurant’s focus is not on mythological forces but on organic, farm-fresh products. Start with little dishes like seared saké marinated filet of beef; shaved radicchio and arugula salad; and a shrimp, squid and scallion pancake. Entrées include the Persian bean stew sabzi; lamb couscous with chickpeas, yam and Moroccan spices; and a porterhouse pork chop with an apple cider reduction. Desserts feature homemade cardamom ice cream and chocolate brownie pudding. |
