THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED B.S. Taqueria Restaurant Review:
B.S. Taqueria is a project from chef Ray Garcia (Broken Spanish) and Sprout LA in the former Mo-Chica space in downtown Los Angeles. The décor is playful, with bright colors and a display of molinillos (wooden whisks designed to stir hot chocolate) hanging from the ceiling. There's communal seating in the front, a bar and a back "patio" with picnic tables and floral murals crowned with greenery. The concise menu offers tacos (carnitas, lengua, clams & lardo, etc.), sides like cucumber salad with radish, chayote and epazote, and specialties such as "Masa Ball Soup." The beet torta packs such a punch of flavor that hardcore carnivores won't even notice there's no meat in this dish. Look for daily "plus size dishes" such as snapper Veracruz on Fridays and birria on Saturdays. On the sweet side, you'll find tres leches cake among the desserts. There are a few wines by the glass plus beers (from Mexico and Los Angeles) and several cocktails with interesting components such as red mole grenadine.
