| Barney's is a relaxing neighborhood tavern set in the midst of Old Pasadena. Barney Hollingsworth opened his general store in the late 1800s on the northwest corner of Fair Oaks and Colorado. Barney’s Ltd. opened in 1979 in West Hollywood, named in honor of the general store. So it’s only fitting that Barney’s would open a branch in Pasadena so close to the original site. The walls are covered with historic photos of the city and the Rose Parade. Eclectic appetizers range from the “Mt. Everest” of nachos to beer-battered onion rings. There's an extensive list of hefty sandwiches, including a dozen first-rate burgers. Other options include Samuel Adams beer-battered halibut, large salads and pasta plates. Substantial entrées are highlighted by fall-off-the-bone baby-back ribs and charbroiled salmon filet with lemon-dill sauce. Comfort food, at comfortable prices. To drink, there’s an almost encyclopedic list of domestic and imported beers, many on draft. |
