THE BEACH HOUSE HAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. We had a craving for some good chow at the beach, stopped here and were welcomed by Liza Utter, formerly a big part of the business brains behind Century City's acclaimed La Cachette. She ushers you into a light and bright paradise full of beautiful Gen-Xers, whose gossip of weekly grosses at least succeeds in drowning out the noise from the Pacific Coast Highway. The contemporary American menu offers tantalizing, though not particularly innovative, dishes. Call it very, very good comfort food. Seafood is the main attraction as befits the spot, but an ever-changing cast of notable culinary characters in the kitchen since the opening makes a menu prediction impossible. Desserts are a desert, and the wine list is simple and a bit pricey.
