| For expatriate Brits, as well as Pasadenans looking for a prime rib fix but unwilling to trek to Lawry's, this ivy-covered replica of an old English inn is ideal. A series of gently lit, wood-paneled rooms offers a congenial ambience. Patrons slide into fireplace-warmed booths to enjoy traditional Anglo-American beef dinners and perhaps imagine they're dining at a smart London pub. They might begin with crab cakes or fried artichoke hearts before tucking into a slab of the kitchen’s signature prime rib---accompanied by Yorkshire pudding and silken creamed corn---along with steaks, grilled salmon or pub favorites like fish ‘n’ chips. The wine list is not notable, but single-malt Scotches, martinis and ales attract the attention of many diners who conclude a meal with English trifle or sticky toffee pudding. |
