Bella Sera Restaurant Review

: A solid neighborhood trattoria operated by seasoned restaurateurs, Bella Sera features an extensive menu of classic and modern Italian fare in a handsome dining room with linen-clad tables and an open kitchen. In the rear lies an open-air dining room, which is also ideal for private events. We recommend beginning with crisp, lightly fried calamari fritti or fritto misto, both distinguished by a smooth basil aïoli for dipping, or a refreshing seasonal fruit salad that makes a nice alternative to the kitchen’s respectable renditions of the ubiquitous caprese or Caesar. Good pizzas emerge from the prominent oven, and pastas include lobster ravioli in saffron cream sauce, and generously portioned vegetarian home-style lasagna. Chicken Marsala and nicely prepared halibut round out the versatile menu. Service is professional, and a short Cal-Italian wine list emphasizes value. In the heart of vibrant downtown Monrovia, Bella Sera is a pleasant option for moviegoers or shoppers.
