There was a time not too long ago that this sleek, somewhat sexy restaurant would have impressed us, but Angelenos have become jaded when it comes to sushi. Now, only the very best generates much of a buzz. At Blue Fish, the raw fish is more than satisfactory---nicely marbled salmon; tender, oversize scallops sprinkled with sea salt; briny-sweet uni---yet it does not excite. Most of the Old Pasadena crowd goes for the long list of signature rolls, which have become predictable fare throughout Southern California. The attractive, narrow room is marked by ebony-stained tables lined against silver-grey walls and a colorful cherry blossom mural behind the long sushi bar. We like this restaurant much better than its sibling in Montrose (2261 Honolulu Ave., 818-248-9700).
