This former burger joint in a quiet suburban area south of the raucous Pier Plaza has become well-known for innovative Japanese-Asian fusion cuisine at knockdown prices. The restaurateur describes the cuisine as Asian Resort Dining, which in practice seems to mean Japanese food with Thai, Southern Chinese and California touches. The fact that there is a section of the menu headed Eccentric Sashimi is revealing. Everything is good and some items are extraordinary---the innovative sushi is noteworthy and the wasabi tuna steak and Asian Forest pasta stand out among entrées. There is a small but reasonably priced list of sakés, beers and wines. The pretty little dining room can be cramped at peak times on busy nights---avoid peak hours or request a table away from the door when you make reservations. Note: the parking lot is small and street parking can be difficult on summer weekends, so be prepared to walk a few blocks.
