This Italian eatery offers a series of rustic dining rooms with spacious booths, a double-sided fireplace and a warm, cozy ambience. Weather permitting, however, head for the lovely patio---the flowered, shaded space feels so much like an Italian country garden you quickly forget the Ventura Freeway is just a few blocks away. Good starters include bruschetta, tuna tartare, beef carpaccio with mustard dressing, and crab cakes. We've enjoyed the pumpkin-stuffed mezzelune (ravioli) with butter-sage sauce, various risotto preparations, and the lamb shank slow-roasted in red wine and fresh herbs, not to mention a fine osso buco. Save room for the homemade gelato and other fine desserts. The moderately-priced wine list offers some intriguing choices.
