In this tiny white minimalist dining room, both foodies and fans of the Japanese aesthetic look to Chef Tommy Harase for always beautifully presented and usually tasty food. At lunch---the bargain meal here---for $9, you can get a perfectly executed sizzling soft-shell crab with curry sauce and the monkfish liver terrine is always sublime. The prix-fixe multicourse dinners that change often (choices are $39 to $55 per person) might include sautéed foie gras with corn chowder or ahi tuna tartare to start, followed by caviar-stuffed scallops or steamed clams with Chardonnay-black bean sauce. The entrée might be roasted duck breast with Granny Smith apples, after which comes a delicate pastry or refreshing coffee-flavored gelatin for dessert.
