Cafe d'Etoile Restaurant Review: In the heart of bustling West Hollywood, but just blocks from Robertson Boulevard’s chic boutique row, is relatively undiscovered Café d’Etoile, usually packed with loyal regulars. Making this boîte look larger than it really is are mirrored walls reflecting a mural of the Seine, a crowded bar and linen-topped tables, many of which spill out onto the sidewalk. The cuisine here is as diverse as the community, with classic French starters like escargots and duck pâté sharing a menu with Chinese-inspired pot stickers. The expansive list of entrées follows the same eclectic tendencies, with dishes such as curried chicken and mozzarella-stuffed meatloaf coexisting with a highly recommendable rack of lamb. A delicate pecan crust provides a sweetness to the lamb, balanced against a balsamic-herb reduction. Decadent chocolate bread pudding makes a worthy finale at this trusted neighborhood bistro. |
