| Those in the know head over to Café Jardin, which is located inside the lush Sherman Library & Gardens, to experience OC’s chef Pascal Olhats. This establishment fortunately doesn’t have the same high level of exposure as Pascal’s original restaurant in Newport Beach, so the serene outpost, set among fanciful gardens, is a welcome treat. Only open for lunch on weekdays and for Sunday brunch, Café Jardin’s cuisine is light and luncheon-y, but still with gourmet flair. Always start with one of the fresh and flavorful salads, such as the beet salad with celery, feta cheese and lemon vinaigrette. The Lorraine-style quiche is always a good bet, but we prefer the seafood dishes or hearty selections like the grilled lamb or slow-braised boneless short ribs. Due to the café’s busy schedule of private events, it's always a good idea to call before visiting. |
