Cafe Nola Restaurant Review

: Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or brunch while exploring Winslow, or venturing across Elliott Bay for a sunset dinner, it’s worth the 30-minute ferryboat ride to dine at Café Nola. By day the casual setting is inviting and warm, while by nightfall it becomes romantic with candles and linen tablecloths. Chef/owner Kevin Warren uses seasonal ingredients to craft the dishes on his imaginative menu, which might feature bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with chorizo; blue corn pancakes enhanced with duck, smoked paprika sour cream and charred jalapeño pepper sauce; halibut tacos; or butternut squash ravioli tossed with brown butter sauce. For brunch, don’t miss the salmon latkes. The lunch menu highlights salads and sandwiches, including a Dungeness crab melt. The selective wine list offers a range of Northwest vintages. Service is consistent.

Cafe Nola Not so good!

We were looking for a local restaurant to try and came upon Cafe Nola. We read the reviews and thought we had come up upon a hidden treasure. How wrong we were. The brunch menu had nice selections. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my partner had the Dungeness crab melt. We also ordered the bloody mary. The drinks were ok. Since we had already placed our order we decided to stick with what we had already chosen. Long story short, the meals were less than exciting. The crab melt was plain and lacking any substantial flavor. The carbonara was runny and had so much pepper in it, it overwhelmed the dish. Trying to salvage some enjoyment from the meal, we ordered dessert. The final straw of a very plain and disappointing meal. The crème brûlée tasted like vanilla pudding. Not creamy and light, just simply pudding with a burnt sugar top.
