Carmine's Restaurant Review: Carmine’s offers lots of pasta with heavy sauces at very low prices in an environment that looks like a movie set. This outpost (there are Carmine’s in New York City, D.C. and the Bahamas) is reminiscent of the others with pictures of Italian heroes --- Sinatra, Marciano, et al --- on the walls and dark paneling throughout. The food is presented on sharing platters for four or more, prepared by a kitchen on auto-pilot. The menu is predictable --- think spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmigiana, lasagna, etc. There are also a few dishes not seen on every Southern Italian menu in the Western Hemisphere, such as chicken scarpariello wings and porterhouse pizzaiola. For dessert, chocolate cannolis, of course. Service is efficient. |
