Catch Restaurant Review:

On a side street and with a velvet rope and protective doorman guarding the entrance, Catch seems like another club in the Meatpacking District. But on the second floor, the bar scene gives way to a large, very busy restaurant, serving seafood of all sorts. (The third floor has more serenity.) Chef John Beatty’s menu offers starters like super-fresh oysters, fish tartares, and an assortment of creative sushi rolls. Follow with scallop gnocchi with black truffle and Parmesan or mahi mahi tacos. Otherwise, put your bib on and dive into the Cantonese lobster, a sticky presentation, and Alaskan king crab legs. Then toss in a side of Brussels sprouts and finish with a light coconut water sorbet or far richer brownie and devil’s food chocolate cake. Catch is a scene where you go to be seen as much as to dine or drink. It’s loud, fun, and you’ll have a good meal, too. If you’re up for it, go to the top floor for a nightcap at the club.
