Catch Restaurant Review: You can’t have a more exotic and romantic dinner than at Casa Del Mar hotel’s signature restaurant Catch, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and is located on the beach in Santa Monica. At night, in the distance, the famous, slowly revolving Ferris wheel casts its bright colors in the sky. Tranquil, in this snug, modernized room we enjoy the beauty of the Pacific. The fried Castelvetrano olives with lemon aïoli introduce the appropriately Mediterranean-oriented cuisine of chef Jason Bowlin that includes dishes like a pissaladière---flatbread with caramelized onion, anchovies and olives. Original too is the blood orange granita that spruces up the Kumamoto oysters. Chef Bowlin takes what is normally a standard dish, bouillabaisse, and adds a personal touch to make it a signature highlight of his menu. The tender rabbit ballotine carries a sweet note of apricot counterbalanced by the mustard seeds. Italianates will love the pappardelle with wild mushroom and veal, while carnivores will get satisfaction with the rib-eye with cavolo nero, farro and black garlic. With its Californian and international selections, the large cheese platter is interesting, and the wine list offers many choices for pairing. Service is on par with the rest of the dining experience. The central wine bar offers guests a relaxed environment to order a bite to eat and browse the selection of classic cocktails and wines available by the glass, carafe and bottle.
