| One of the first hip Thai restaurants in L.A., Chan Dara is still going strong. The typical Thai dishes are done very well here: not-too-sweet mee krob, chewy pad thai noodles, various vegetable stir-fries, spicy beef and commendable satays. The barbecued chicken is a mainstay, as are such seafood specialties as basil-and-chili-sauced rock and roll clams and deep-fried catfish. Business ventures among the family members who own the various locations mean not all have the same name---the original is Chan Dara in Hollywood, while the Marina del Rey outlet is Chan Darette. But offerings at all remain similar. |
