THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chung King Restaurant Review: Chung King is hardly fancy and just a notch above comfortable, but it offers honest value that has made it a neighborhood institution for over 30 years. Lunch specials, topping out under $6, are straight-down-the-middle Cantonese comfort food (chicken with broccoli, kung pao chicken, whole fish in hot bean sauce) served with soup, egg roll and rice. Our favorite dinner entrées include shrimp with asparagus, and bear's paw (fried tofu and green onions in hot black bean sauce). One thing that sets this place apart is the lunchtime-only selection of noodle soups --- with beef, Szechwan pickled cabbage and more. |
