THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cobra Lily Restaurant Review:
Another venture of entrepreneurial Steven Arroyo, this is the sister restaurant to his enormously popular Cobras & Matadors. The dimly lit, often-crowded room is simultaneously rustic and urbane, with simple wooden tables beneath simple crystal chandeliers, and a couple of wild boar heads mounted to walls splashed with red paint. A colorfully-tiled tapas bar serves up good Spanish cheeses (Cabrales, manchego, Mahón), Serrano ham, seared octopus in a salsa verde, chicken or ham croquetas, and, of course, wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero (in fact, it's an all-Spanish wine list). Like Arroyo's other restaurants, Cobra Lily offers a welcome bohemian edge in an all-too-plastic metropolis, and makes a good pre- or post-show hangout for patrons of the nearby Wilshire Theater.
