THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cuba Central Restaurant Review:
Cuba Central contributes to a bustling corner of Little Tokyo, along with neighbor Weiland Brewery Restaurant. It’s owned by Cubans and the menu sounds authentic, but whoever is manning the kitchen lacks both a taste for Cuban cuisine and the necessary cooking skills. Witness severely over-fried ham croquetas and bistec empanizado; and arroz con pollo that resembles Spanish rice from a school cafeteria. Cuba Central fails one of the New World’s great cuisines, whose Spanish, African and Caribbean accents normally make it so satisfying. The restaurant is a casual affair, broken up into small rooms with vintage travel posters and ceiling fans.
