In the former home of Porterhouse Bistro, Delfini Città has upgraded the ambience, creating a simple but elegant combination of white walls, brick accents and hardwood floors. Guests are first greeted in the sprawling lounge and bar area before moving to one of two smaller adjacent dining rooms, all of which are harnessed around the large pizza oven. Eggplant Parmesan makes for a rich appetizer, while a lighter salad option involves fresh caprese with sweet tomatoes. A small pasta menu is available; its most notable dish is the bucatini with an unctuous amatriciana sauce of sweet, reduced tomatoes, chile flakes and ham. Baked Cornish game hen is stuffed with rosemary and thyme and has a crispy skin, topped with a zingy orange sauce, while tender, somewhat fatty veal is balanced with a traditional lemon, caper and butter sauce. Pizzas are the real star here, served crisp and hot from the oven, like the standard margherita or pies with straightforward toppings such as mushroom and prosciutto. Dessert is limited to profiteroles, tiramisu and crème brûlée. The wine list offers a smattering of choices from Italy and California.
