| The sleekest entry in Davis Square's coffeehouse sweepstakes is owned by three former employees of Toscanini's Ice Cream. Presumably, they drank a lot of joe and did a lot of thinking at their old job, because the high-ceilinged, chrome-edged space became an instant destination for Somerville's young, cool and comely. Java is the obvious draw, but there's also a grab bag of wrap sandwiches, leafy salads and pastries, all surprisingly tasty. Tables up front have a platinum view of the street scene, while the couches and counters in the back are crammed with students intent on textbooks and laptops. |
