Diner on Main Restaurant Review:
An old-fashioned diner has been transformed into an updated, retro-but-contemporary cousin, operated by the folks behind South Pasadena's Shakers. This modern edition has a long counter, comfortable booths, images of '50s icons like Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, a few neon stars on a black ceiling, and something most authentic diners don't have: a full bar. It's a fine place for a variety of decent burgers, like the "monster" --- a half-pound patty with grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato and mayo --- served with a choice of sides. Chicken-fried steak and fish ‘n’ chips at dinner, as well as morning specialties like New York cheese blintzes and a thick Belgian waffle, are also available. Fountain drinks are made with Fosselman's ice cream, and dessert choices include deep-dish apple pie, boysenberry pie and three-layer chocolate cake.
