Dish Restaurant is one of GAYOT's 2013

Dish Restaurant Review: Patrons immediately feel at home at Dish, where thrift store art intermingles with award plaques along the walls. Good starters include fried green tomatoes, collard dip, hummus topped with spicy chow chow and the Parmesan potato cake. The signature chicken and dumplings begins with a butter-basted roasted bird and hand-made dough for tender dumplings. Among our favorite entrées are the Cajun meatloaf, a pot roast and the fresh salmon patties served with house-made orange honey butter. Sandwich options include Eastern Carolina-style pork barbecue and the bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato version of the BLT. Garnishes of deviled egg and a biscuit are made fresh every morning. Be sure to save room for dessert because Dish makes a renowned vanilla bourbon sweet potato pie; we also suggest the chocolate pecan and Key lime pies. The short wine list deals largely in inexpensive quaffs, while Charlotte’s own Olde Mecklenburg Copper highlights a well-chosen short draught list of brews. |
