 Duplex on Third Restaurant Review: This vintage duplex house has been re-imagined by designer Thomas Schoos with a bit of homey-chic irony, but overall it is rather elegant. A wraparound patio, perched on Third Street with modern gas-fire chandeliers, is especially pleasant and removed enough from the boisterous bar scene. Upstairs you'll find a library-like lounge and a dining room that's prime for private events. The kitchen, overseen by Sean Mindrum, offers approachable contemporary cooking studded with seasonal ingredients from local purveyors. Starters range from flatbreads to lamb meatballs with tzatziki and pita to shrimp, scallop and white fish ceviche complemented by tequila blanca granite. Daily specials among the main dishes might include swordfish as the "catch of the day." A bright note of preserved lemon elevates branzino with rosemary fried new potatoes and a ragout of artichokes, bell peppers, olives and tomatoes. Carnivorous appetites will gravitate to the steaks, braised short rib with Parmesan risotto and signature burger. Finish with the rustic plum tart or market fruit crumble. The wine list is focused on Napa and Sonoma labels, which suits the menu well.
