E. Baldi Restaurant Review: This little sister to Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi offers rustic Italian fare in a modern setting with an open kitchen. The look of the intimate restaurant is more sophisticated than the seaside retreat of the original; celebrities frequently wander by for pasta or thin-crusted pizza, and there can also be a hint of attitude. In the kitchen is Edoardo Baldi, who offers delicate crêpes filled with smoked salmon, calamari fritti, and burrata nicely paired with roasted potatoes and pesto for appetizers. Pastas range from gnocchi with Maine lobster to sweet corn agnolotti with mascarpone and truffle butter. Entrées like grilled branzino or tagliata precede first-rate desserts, such as butterscotch rum pudding with salted caramel, a traditional panna cotta, or chocolate crêpes oozing hazelnut custard. Some values appear on a solid, mostly Italian wine list. |
