| This modern café has helped to reshape L.A.'s perception of Indian food since 1986. For example, naan here comes stuffed not only with the traditional potatoes, but also with garlic and basil, cheese, chicken or shrimp. One of the best options is the tandoori medley, featuring a piece each of marinated fish, large shrimp, on-the-bone chicken, boneless leg of lamb and chicken breast. Also offered are mix-and-match proteins with curries, including shrimp with green coconut curry or lamb with sagwala, a sauce of puréed spinach with ginger, garlic and spices. We recommend trying tandoor-fired baby-back ribs in a mango-soy marinade and crispy whole mahi mahi topped with garlic-chile sauce. To drink, order a tangy lassi or a sweet mango lassi. Desserts are highlighted by rice pudding and pistachio kulfi. |
