This sprawling bar occupies what was once downtown’s first power plant, and the history---including a massive boiler and other artifacts---has been preserved in the face of Art Deco accents and plush turn-of-the-century furniture. The bar scene rules, but there is a menu of tasty bar treats, too, like oysters Rockefeller, fries with orange-ginger mayo or coconut ranch, truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, deviled eggs and lobster corn dogs. A good selection of international beers, innovative cocktails and an eclectic wine list---not to mention an eclectic crowd---make for a good time in the “new” downtown.
