THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS El Cholo Restaurant Review:
The famous El Cholo, boasting L.A.'s most legendary margaritas, has finally arrived in Pasadena and has been overwhelmed by patrons since the day it opened (hour waits are not uncommon). The restaurant offers a predictable Mexican décor, but with a bit more style than most. The rustic two-level dining room is marked by high-backed wooden booths, wrought iron chandeliers and fireplaces, and contains colorful tile accents and flowering plants. The menu is also rather predictable, but most items are generally well prepared (of course, some diners palates are so lubricated with tequila they might not notice). Popular items include green corn tamales made with fresh corn and masa, chili relleno, enchilada Suiza with salsa verde, carne asada, tacos al carbon and a variety of sizzling fajitas. The El Cholo chain is the worlds largest buyer of Cuervo 1800 tequila and the houses signature margarita is so smooth its nicknamed L.A. Lemonade. El Cholo is already part of the Pasadena scene in a big way.
