Dining room at Fig & Olive, West Hollywood, CA

Fig & Olive Restaurant Review

: Since opening in 2011, New York import Fig & Olive has taken root and flourished in West Hollywood --- an impressive feat considering the restaurant can seat nearly 500 guests at full capacity. Many parties and special events have been hosted here, including a fundraising dinner for President Obama. The multi-room space features an upstairs level overlooking the contemporary-styled dining room anchored by an olive tree, a semi-covered patio and a bar/lounge by the entrance with a 50-foot marble bar and communal table. Overseeing the menu of French Riviera-inspired fare is executive chef Pascal Lorange, who starts guests off with a tasting of three signature olive oils. Diners are then faced with the difficult task of choosing between assortments of olives, cheeses, charcuterie and crostini (we recommend the one with goat cheese, caramelized onions and chives). Drizzles of specially selected olive oils add finishing touches to starters such as thin slices of braised octopus topped with marinated bell peppers, fingerling potatoes and black olives. For main dishes, opt for the rosemary lamb chops or the seafood paella studded with black tiger shrimp, sea scallops, calamari and mussels. Indulge in the chocolate soufflé or caramelized apple tart for dessert. The carefully curated wine list offers selections from the South of France, Spain and Italy.
