Firefly Restaurant Review: The front of Firefly is a sexy library lounge with comfortable sofas, deep red walls and gilt-framed mirrors. The dining area is a covered patio with a central fireplace, some cozy tables separated by curtains, and scores of candles. It's a truly alluring place to hang out and the food is better than many lounges around town. Small plates range from a version of steak tartare to veal meatballs to tiny but good cicchetti olives that are breaded and deep-fried, served with garlicky aïoli. Larger plates include fish ‘n’ chips and a rib-eye with beer-battered onion rings and balsamic reduction, while banana bread pudding made with chocolate brioche and a pistachio financier are available for dessert. Late at night, a hip crowd tucks into burgers topped with grilled onions, Maytag blue cheese and bacon, or snacks from cheese boards. An eclectic selection of wines is offered, and there are many reasonably priced pours by the glass, while cocktails include modern takes on old classics.
