THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Four Oaks Restaurant Restaurant Review:
What traffic-confounded and hustle-bustle-battered Angelenos like best in a dining experience is the sense of being far away from the busy city they inhabit, and this refuge in a greenery-draped canyon that's really only a leaf-fall from the din has been a favorite for its setting alone for decades. The patio is canopied by tall trees and serenaded by chirping birds, and the indoor dining rooms have all of the fireplace woodsy-ness of a cabin retreat. The menu changes seasonally, but some stars include forest mushroom bouillon with sherry, chervil and white truffle fragrances; lobster spring rolls with passion fruit, mint dip and wasabi mustard; and bacon-wrapped venison chop, wild mushroom duxelles, creamy potato cake and lingonberry marmalade. Prepare to pay dearly for these culinary inspirations, but then, the setting is quite inspiring in itself.
