THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Frittelli’s offers what you’d expect from donut shops everywhere: strong, steaming hot coffee; a wide selection of cake, glazed and chocolate-topped donuts; and cheerful workers amped-up on sugar. But living up to its affluent address, the shop is adorned with dark wood and granite accents, wraps everything in beautiful blue bags and boxes, and produces seasonal specialty treats using all-natural, anything-but-traditional ingredients. Try a lemon poppy seed or pumpkin glazed. For the kids, there’s peanut-butter-and-jelly-stuffed, using strawberry jam and a fist full of real peanut butter. The yeast-raised donuts lack the lightness we look for, but all can be forgiven with a single bite of a fresh cake donut rolled in crumb topping.
